Natural Nutshell Blasting Media

The SH BLAST Nutshell Granulate is an iron-free and organic abrasive media made from cleaned and crushed walnut shells. The granules are soft, angular and ideal for a non-aggressive and gentle cleaning of particularly sensitive surfaces and machines. Nutshell granulate has a low abrasive effect and cleans without material distortion and without removing the base material.

SH BLAST walnut granules deburr plastic and thermoset parts, are suitable for the matting of plastic parts and can be used for the preparation of coatings and paintings for plastic parts. Due to its low specific weight and soft structure, the nut granules are also suitable for the treatment of elastic coatings and sensitive metallic surfaces - however, with their limited abrasive capabilities, nutshells are unsuitable for removing rust and corrosion.

Nut blasting agents have the property of burning completely under heat and are the solution of choice for cleaning applications for internal combustion engines. As a purely organic material, nutshells do not contain any metallic elements and are not electrically conductive and hence can be used for applications on sensitive metallic surfaces of injection molds or extruder tools.

SH BLAST Nutshell Granulate are available in the standard sizes:

• 0.20 - 0.45mm
• 0.45 - 0.80mm
• 0.45 - 1.00mm
• 0.80 - 1.30mm
• 1.00 - 1.70mm
• 1.30 - 1.70mm
• 1.70 - 2.40mm.

Walnut granules are an environmentally friendly and non-toxic reusable blasting media. As organic material it is not subject to any special regulations and the product can be disposed of without any problem. When applied in closed rooms or blasting cabinets, the abrasive can be recycled several times, making them not only environmentally friendly but also very cost-effective.

SH BLAST Nutshell Granulates are suitable for use in pressure blasting systems and injector blasting cabinets and can be used as an abrasive media with dry ice blasting devices.

Attention:

When abrasive blasting always pay attention to wearing suitable protective clothing. Use suitable ventilation systems whilst working in enclosures. Only use appropriate abrasive medias for suitable applications and with the correct instructions. Incorrectly used abrasives can cause damage to the surfaces being blasted.
